Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen combined for their fourth winner of the week at Galway when Lost In Silence landed the spoils in the Guinness 17:59 European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden (Plus 10 Race).

On outing number two the successful Holy Roman Emperor filly always had the front-running Delegating in her sights, and she got the better of a good duel with that one, which started from before the straight. Just half a length split them at the line and they left Hailstone five lengths back in third.

Well-touted Tenth Amendment missed the break. He was always on the back-foot thereafter and ended up in fifth place.

"She did it well, and it was a very good ride from Pat. The draw was a concern, and he did well to get over from stall ten," remarked Weld.

"She's a tough, genuine filly, and will go for a mile nursery. She's very honest and sound, and was very suitable for the race and the track."

The Stewards received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, Mr. A. Tyrell, that E. McNamara, trainer of Elusive John (Ire), had failed to lodge the passport on time as required. Having considered the report, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Elusive John(Ire) and fined the trainer €350 under the provisions of Rule 90(ii).

The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the bend into the home straight involving Hailstone, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed third and Red Sabor (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced, where it appeared Red Sabor (GB) ran short of room and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and took no further action .Mr. S. McDonogh, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Red Sabor (GB) trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked turning in.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Wings Of Eagles (FR), trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left handed.
