New tactics, I thought that might be a help after Punchestown. Paul was very taken with him there. He's brilliant to jump, that was always his feature, but we were making too much use of his jumping instead of just using it when we needed it. Coming back in trip might have been a help as well. I don't know whether we've made a mistake now leaving him at home for Cheltenham but at least he has one nice prize in the bag. I imagine he'll probably go for the WillowWarm Gold Cup at Fairyhouse. That was the plan, here and then on to that. I know it's two-and-a-half but that two-and-a-half will be alright for him as well. This track suited him much better, a flatter track. Wexford was a bit too stiff for him, he likes to get on with it. He jumps fantastic and he's going to be a much better chaser than he was a hurdler. He's starting to settle a bit better as well. He missed the kick today, settled away lovely, travelled everywhere and it was like a piece of work. Finny said he was never concerned at any stage, that he was always going to bolt up. I was a little concerned about the ground, I live locally and we got 30mm during the week in half an hour which was grand, as it took the firm out of the ground. The plan was to come here and run a nice race. He's about 10lb lower over hurdles and while we were looking at a handicap hurdle in Galway, on the back of that we may have to look at the amateur handicap. that was a great thrill and myself and my father always thought this lad had a big race in him. He was the last winner my father had in Gowran so it is extra special to win a big one. We were so unlucky that he hadn't won a big one by now, he'd been placed so many times. He's so consistent and the handicapper hasn't always been easy on him. Whatever happens after today, it doesn't matter, it's a bonus. he jumps and travels and any jockey that rides him comes back with a smile on their face - they get such a thrill from him. He's a pleasure to train because he's the most straightforward horse you'll come across. We went for the Leopardstown Chase last year and really thought he'd get the trip, as it turned out he didn't really. We might go back for it though, ride him differently and try to creep into it. He deserved to win a big one, I'm delighted for the horse and delighted for the owners.

He’s a horse with any amount of ability. He’s had a few problems, but we seem to have ironed them out now and hopefully he can keep going. We’ve changed the tactics with him and he’s more relaxed. Denis is the man for that job and gets on very well with him. It’s hard to watch but you have to let him at it. Denis said they flew which probably suited him and he was able to stay on. He has loads of pace and stays the two miles very well. I’d say we’ll go for the Galway Hurdle now. That’s my biggest win and I’m from Kerry so it’s great to get it here.

I'm delighted with that. I was concerned after all of the rain because I think he is a better horse on good ground, I was just hoping that his ability would pull him through and we didn't need to worry in the end. We like him a lot and he had a nice run in Limerick where he probably learned plenty. Danny thought that he probably learned a lot today as well. For a big horse he has a turn of foot and he is a nice horse to look forward to. I think two-and-a-half miles is enough for him at the minute but at the same time I wouldn't have any problem going back to two. I'd be happy enough with two miles to two-and-a-half for him. With a bit more experience over hurdles we will be looking at nicer races. It's still early days but he was impressive. He likes a little gap between races. I don't think he is a horse that you would be bouncing out again quick. We will look for a novice hurdle somewhere.

He was very lucky to win in Kilbeggan when he would have finished third or fourth only for two horses to fall and was then unlucky at Downpatrick when he jumped violently left at the second-last.
