FormscanBy Donal Murphy - A typically ultra-competitive renewal of this two mile five furlong contest. The one I'll row in with is handicap debutant ABBYSSIAL. Off the track for almost three years, the son of Beneficial ran a cracker on his return to action at Gowran last month, finishing a close fourth to Forge Meadow over two miles in the Grade 3 Red Mills Trial Hurdle. His trainer Willie Mullins indicated before that contest that the trip might be a little short for his liking, and so the step up in distance now should prove ideal. Mullins also saddles Max Dynamite, C'est Jersey, Voix Du Reve, and Bleu Berry. Ruby Walsh has opted to partner Max Dynamite, and this globetrotting eight-year-old is sure to prove a popular choice with punters. The versatile bay was ninth when sent off favourite on his last start over flights in the Galway Hurdle, but he has since finished third in the Melbourne Cup, while he was sixth on his most recent start in the Hong Kong Vase. He was fourth in the County Hurdle on his previous visit to Cheltenham in 2015, and another good performance looks likely now. The lightly raced Voix Du Reve is another interesting runner for Mullins. He looked set to score when falling at the last in the Fred Winter here in 2016, and while his last two efforts have been ordinary, it would come as no surprise if he managed to bounce back to form now. Others with solid each-way claims here are handicap debutant As You Were, 2016 winner Diamond King, and the Nicky Henderson trained duo of William Henry and Burbank.
