Colin Bowe has had many big days 'between the flags' but they were all trumped when the Kiltealy, County Wexford operator saddled a double here at Fairyhouse, completed by Clondaw Kaempfer under Colin Motherway in the Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper INH Flat Race. Of course earlier Askanna had taken a Grade 2 for Bowe.

Remarkably Clondaw Kaempfer is a full-brother to Its A Dream, winner of the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at the Punchestown Festival in 2005. He had a couple of placed efforts to his name in point-to-points and here he stayed on best to beat The Liquidator and the well-touted favourite Snake Eyes by half a length and a length and a half. They left the rest sixteen lengths behind.

The Willie Mullins-trained Patanne (Declan Lavery up) came alive in the betting from as big as 25s this morning into 6s but he had to settle for fifth place.

Bowe trains Clondaw Kaempfer for his wife Fiona (they were on the mark with Clondaw Knight at Inch point-to-point last Wednesday) and he said: "In one of his points he made a bad mistake two out and then rattled home to be beaten a short-head.

"He had that bit of experience and he'll go to Punchestown now. He's for sale.

"I knew he had a good chance today as he always showed loads at home. The horse coming to challenge him helped him to battle."

The Stewards interviewed Mr C Motherway, rider of Clondaw Kaempfer concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr C Motherway was in breach of Regulation 10 2.(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for two race days.

The Stewards interviewed Mr J T Carroll, rider of The Liquidator (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J T Carroll was in breach of Regulation 10 2.(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and suspended him for two race days. They also advised Mr Carroll to familiarise himself with the rules in relation to the whip.
