Alelchi Inois (5/4f) fought off Domination to land the Christy McSweeney Memorial Novice Chase in Killarney, but that only tells half the story. Bally Longford and Phillip Enright (replacing Andrew Lynch) led at a steady pace from flagfall. However the gelding, making his first start for Henry de Bromhead, made a mistake four out and then took a crashing fall at the second last which brought down Cailin Annamh and Barry Geraghty.

Alelchi Inois was racing track-width apart of Bally Longford in second when this happened. He was left in the lead, but Domination (4/1) threw down the gauntlet over the last. He failed by a length and a quarter.

Winning jockey Paul Townend reported: "He jumped brilliantly, he was immaculate. The horses at the second last were on the ground before I knew about it. They are there to be jumped."

Barry Geraghty limped away from being brought down on Cailin Annamh while Phillip Enright was taken to hospital for an X-ray on a right wrist injury.
