Twelve-year-old Kilmurry Kid has been a good servant to the Hayes family from Rathkeale in County Limerick and he made it four under Rules today, to add to his four victories 'between the flags,' when taking the Cheltenham Trial Day 22nd February Handicap Chase at Naas.

Jonathan Burke 's mount came here on the back of a good third placing, over track and trip, behind the progressive Leap Dearg, almost a fortnight back.

Today Kilmurry Kid assigned the luckless Heavenly Brook to the runner-up spot for the sixth time in succession, by three lengths.

Well-backed favourite Five O'clock Tea (from at least 4s this morning into 2s) had every chance but he had to settle for third, three lengths adrift. Fla's Long Shot was a market-springer on track (from 20s into 10s) but he could manage no better than fourth, whilst winner of the event for the past two years, Reality Dose brought up the rear of the six finishers.

Winning trainer John Hayes said: "He jumped and galloped. It's great to get another one out of him. He's versatile as regards distance. We took a chance the last day running him over two miles. He ran well and it's paid off today." (AM & EM)
