Apprentice jockey Gary Halpin registered his first winner of the year but more importantly his first for trainer John Oxx when steering the Aga Khan owned Rayna to win the Leopardstown On Facebook Apprentice Handicap at Leopardstown.

The win was trainer Kevin Prendergast based Halpin's eighth career success and while Oxx himself wasn't present his representative and assistant Jimmy O'Neill later stated “it's Gary's first ride for us and he did very well.”

“We were a bit worried about the ground and even though she is by Selkirk she is only a light little thing. She's entered at Killarney and it's possible she could go there.”
