Baily bounds home in opener

The Mouse Morris-trained Baily Green ran out an impressive winner of the opening maiden hurdle at Cork this afternoon.

Andrew McNamara arrived travelling ominously well on the gelding to hit the front at the second last.

He was shaken up to assert before the final flight and could afford to ease down in the closing stages for a nine-length success. Marlos Moment who had finished in front of the winner at Navan last time, proved no match this time as he chased him home.

The winner had been the one for money, backed at 3/1 in the morning, and sent off 5/2 favourite on course.

"He's a fine big horse and will make a nice chaser eventually," said Morris afterwards.

"He'll go for a winners' of one now and is better on that better ground.

"He had a wind op before Navan and that run got his confidence back. He was a different horse today."
