Banjaxed Girl recorded her eighth career success, and her first in Ireland, at Punchestown today when justifying 2/1 favouritism to win the Punchestown Annual Membership 2013 Mares Beginners Steeplechase.

Ridden by Robbie Power, the eight year old mare jumped to the front three out before staying on well under pressure in the straight to defeat Oscars Business by three lengths.

Winning trainer Lady Fowler later stated “we had to get that one out of the way! I think she may be a little bit better that last year as she had a little bit of a problem then which took a little bit of time to work out.

“I was nervous about the ground for her first time out but Robbie (Power) said she just about handled it. He thought last year that she wouldn't get much further that two and a half miles but I might step her up to try now to find out.

“At least she is a winner again now (gained seven wins for Nigel Twiston Davies in Britain) and also has blacktype already so that's important for her. She has a sister going to the Doncaster Sales shortly.”
