Charles Byrnes and Andrew Ring got favourite backers on track again as Baresi won the two mile three handicap hurdle in Naas.

The 4/1 chance put paid to front-running Chill on home straight and looked the winner from two out, however, he faced a stern challenge from Undertheboardwalk who tried to bridge the gap but went down by a length and three parts.

Baresi fiddled the last, but found more for pressure and was able to contain Undertheboardwalk. Courage who was backed in from 14s to 10/1 in the ring, rewarded each-way punters by finishing third beaten five lengths in total.

Baresi was stepping up on a second to Blackwell Synergy in Listowel and a third to The Crafty Butcher at Gowran Park on his last two outings.

This was eight-year-old Baresi’s fourth career victory.
