Bayross shocks at 33/1, again!

The John Larkin trained Bayross recorded his second 33/1 success in his last three starts when overturning French import and 4/7f Sous Les Cieux in the Tote Pick Six Rollover Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse today.

Sous Les Cieux failed to pick up in the straight as Bayross, under Andrew Lynch, went clear, eventually running out a two and a half lengths winner.

Afterwards Larkin stated “I was quite confident over today’s two and a half miles and that heavy ground helped make a difference too.”

He added “he has a lovely pedigree and was a nice bit of value for €8,800 at the 2009 Derby Sale as he has a lovely pedigree. He has plenty of novice options in Ireland now and if they prove ‘above’ him, he can travel to Britain.”

Sous Les Cieux's trainer Willie Mullins subsequently stated "that was a very disappointing run but the ground is very testing. We had a rushed preparation with him though as he had a few setbacks and Paul said he seemed to 'blow up' - I think he's better than that run though."
