Beauty very very good at Downpatrick

One is reminded of the nursery rhyme - There was a little girl who had a little curl - when it comes to Sean Gallagher and Gordon Elliott's (33 today) mare Brave Beauty and the daughter of Accordion had one of her very very good days today when sluicing up in the Audrey Woods Memorial European Breeders Fund Mares Novice Hurdle at Downpatrick.

She was obviously helped by a brilliantly confident Paul Carberry ride and the fact that well-backed long-odds on favourite Belle Brook never really 'went a yard.' She looked like she was going to pull it out of the fire at the second last for Davy Russell but Carberry eased away from the last on Brave Beauty to score with plenty in hand.

Gordon Elliott said afterwards: "I'd say she's a bit of a madam. In fairness the ground was a bit better and that probably helped. She may go to England in a few weeks time for something.

"It's great for Sean who is one of my best supporters."
