Bill blitzes her rivals

For Bill did it like a 1/7 shot should, when winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Chase at Navan this afternoon.

The defection of Morning Supreme due to a temperature, made the job a lot easier for the long odds on favourite and she didn’t disappointed coming home eight lengths clear of Inistioge with the only other runner Galant Ferns a further length and three quarters back in third.

Davy Russell could afford to ease the winner down on the run-in as she left her rivals for dead after 3 out in what was an excellent performance by the popular mare.

Winning trainer Michael Winters stated "She will go to Limerick next on the 13th of March (for the Dawn Run, Grade 3 Mares Novice Chase) that’s the plan. Davy said he was delighted with her. In fairness she is a great jumper, that ground wouldn’t be the nicest - it’s loose, deep and tacky."

"I’m very lucky to have one like her, the race was like a canter she would have at home. She doesn’t jump at home. We just keep her ticking over."

"Maybe next year they will make a Gold Cup for mares, as they are a lot of good ones out there!"
