Bob gets home in Sligo opener

The maiden that Bobskier finished eighth in when well-backed at Limerick last time has been working out well and the daughter of Big Bad Bob was good enough to score on her third outing in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden at Sligo.

In the Oaks winning Snow Fairy colours of Anamoine Stud, Chris Hayes (got a two day ban for careless riding) got to the front narrowly in the straight on the 100/30 shot and she kept on well to see off the well-backed Hope Of An Angel (troublesome before the start) by a short head.

Hayes commented of the Jessica Harrington-trained winner: "I rode the winner of the race at Limerick (Obligada) and I thought this filly was one of the unlucky ones in the race there. She was trapped six wide and ran well really even though she only finished eighth."

Big Bad Bob, the successful sire, has been responsible for a couple of other winners in Ireland lately, namely Bank On Black and Bob Le Beau.
