Boughtinthedark gained a first win at Navan today as the Joe Doyle partnered filly landed division one of the Navan Handicap on her 13th racecourse run.

The daughter of Dandy Man's previous best placing was when finishing fourth at Dundalk last December and following today's success, winning trainer Denis Hogan said “last year she was always on the weak side and she had been running okay without getting in the money.

“She did super over the winter and she was ready to run two months ago.

“It's great as they are lovely owners and really good supporters of mine. They love the filly, it's a pity they can't be here but it's the same for everyone and they'll be delighted sitting at home. It's their only horse and they absolutely adore her.

“I'll look for something similar now. I tried to put her in at the Curragh at the weekend but it was a 50-70 and she's only 44. Sometimes you want them low but it doesn't always pay to be that low.

“I think there is a race at Tipperary over five in two weeks.”
