Boundless Ocean bagged back-to-back Group 3 wins at Leopardstown when making all for victory in the Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes this evening.

Jim Bolger 's charge had claimed the Meld Stakes over a furlong further on his last visit and handled the drop back to a mile in his stride.

Kevin Manning was soon in front on the 11/8 favourite and the Teofilo gelding found plenty down the straight to secure victory. Juncture tried to throw down a challenge in the closing stages but could only get within three-parts-of-a-length of the winner.

Boundless Ocean was making his first start in the colours of Sheik Abdululelah Abdulaziz A Almousa and Bolger said afterwards:-

“He's obviously very versatile. He would need pace at a mile but he's happy to do his own thing when he doesn't get it.

“He loves it, he's a big horse and he'll be an improver. We'll go for the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes next.

“The owner is from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and it's his first horse in Ireland, the first of many hopefully.

“He was bought specifically for the February meeting in Saudi Arabia and depending on how he gets on when he goes out there it will either be the Saudi Cup or one of the lesser races. Hopefully the Saudi Cup.”
