Boynagh signs off in style

Boynagh Joy capped a terrific autumn campaign when landing the Listed Cooley Fillies Stakes at Dundalk.

James Halpin 's filly who won a handicap off 57 here in September was landing her third contest since then.

Officially rated 85 coming into today's contest she performed well above that as she took the step up in grade in her stride.

Sean Levey produced her on the wide outside, with a strong run inside the final furlong, to hit the front 150 yards from home.

She kept on gamely in the closing stages to record a half-length victory over Barring Decree

"It wasn't a shock. I had said beforehand that I'd be surprised if she won but not shocked. We just didn't know how she would take the step up in class," said Halpin.

"He gave her a super ride. She's just a battler and loves racing. She loves it around here and is probably better here.

"That's it for the season now. Whether she goes to stud or not now I don't know. She might even be for sale after picking up black-type."
