Slivegullion Girl completed two winners in three days for trainer Oliver Brady in the Limerick GAA Handicap Hurdle at Limerick today.

Ridden by seven pounds claimer Ryan Treacy, the daughter of Monashee Mountain benefited from the final flight mistake from challenging Givemeabuzz (eventual third), before staying on well on the run-in for a three lengths win over Robbie McMahon

Brady's exuberant post-race celebrations already form part of Irish racing's lore and while the Co Monaghan trainer was present to welcome Maccas Lad into the winner's enclosure at Kilbeggan on Friday, today's expectant crowd were left disappointed. His assistant Anthony McCann later explained “Oliver couldn't make it as he is still recovering from Friday night!”

He added “she did it very well and it's great for the Charity (Shabra Charity Club, owners) as it is another few pounds for it.

“Slivegullion Girl got a bad knock at Kilbeggan on her last run and the vets wrote her off and said she'd never race again. It's great that she made it back though and I think she'll like a bit of better ground too. We'll keep her in her own class and she'll be out for another similar race in a couple of weeks.”
