Brideswell Lad showed good fortitude to defy 11st12lb in the extended 2m5f handicap chase in Tramore.

There was a host of horses holding claims of some sort in behind him jumping two out as the leader jumped it slightly to his left.

Crucially, he got away from it well and another good jump at the last sealed the deal.

JJ Slevin pushed him out to pass the post with three lengths in hand at 8/1. Priory Park 4/1jf, took second and was a length and three quarters in front of Sunnyvilla (10/1).

This was his fourth career success and second at Tramore having won his maiden hurdle at this venue in August 2021.

Trainer Seamus Neville said: "He can do it over the shorter trip as well as longer trips. He was unfortunate over shorter at Leopardstown last month. He stayed at it well now today.

"He is a half-brother to Cloth Cap and won his maiden hurdle here at Tramore. We will campaign him over the summer at the festivals, he is more of a summer horse and we were a little bit concerned about the ground for him today.

"I thought it might have been a bit soft for him, but he handled it okay.

"I'm hoping he'll get into some of the better handicaps over the summer. We can dream on anyway!"
