Brinestine produced a game front-running performance to get off the mark in the ten furlong maiden at Navan.

Joe Murphy 's charge proved easy to back (7/2 to 5/1) but bounced back to form to give Gary Carroll a quick double on the card.

The gelding had produced a couple of solid placed efforts earlier in the season but had been below par on two starts since.

He cut out the running today and had Exact for company throughout.

The eventual winner went on by a few lengths over a furlong out and held a renewed effort by his rival in the closing stages for a three-parts success.

"He had a good run at the Curragh on Derby weekend," said the trainer's son and namesake.

"He'll probably run once or twice over hurdles now. He pricked his ears in front but you'd expect that a bit.

"He can be a bit keen but it worked out well today." Nimdani was the well-backed 11/10 favourite (from 9/4) but came under pressure before the straight and was a one-paced third.
