Those that backed Auden from 5/2 into 13/8 may have been concerned to see Colin Keane stoke along the second favourite early in the Tipperary Claiming Race at Clonmel. It was a case of all's well that ends well though as the five-year-old scored by a convincing five lengths.

Soon tracking the pace set by The Galway Clock Tuesday's Laytown fourth led two furlongs out and it was out of reach for the runner-up, Hoppsan from over a furlong out. The aforementioned The Galway Clock took the 'bronze,' seven lengths adrift whilst 11/8 'jolly' Mighty Whitey was a 'beaten-docket' approaching the straight, trailing home fourth of the sixth.

"He's won two claimers now this year and that's a third for me.

"The mile and two was perfect for him. When the entries came out there was two or three better than him but at declaration time things were looking in better shape.

"Colin gave him a good ride and kept it nice and simple. They've done a great job with the ground here – it's in good shape.

"I'm not sure about plans but he may go to England where there might be more opportunities for him," reflected winning trainer Ken Condon in the aftermath. (TW & EM)
