The last flight is always a good time to hit the front and that’s what Cailin Annamh and Robbie Power did in the opening maiden hurdle at Wexford over two and a quarter miles.

The 8/11 favourite raced in third throughout behind Pollywollydoodle as Ellaway Rose cut out the pace.

Despite being untidy at a couple of flights and being off the bridle some way out, Cailin Annamh got on top of Ellaway Rose coming to the last and stayed on to win by five and a half lengths.

Ellaway Rose (13/2) and Pollywollydoodle (8/1) took second and third respectively.

Eamonn Leigh assistant to Jessica Harrington said: "It’s nice to get that out of the way and I'm delighted with her. She will get further and she'll step up in trip to two and half or even two mile six.

“She won her bumper around here and she handles the track well. She might go to Galway now for a novice hurdle over a longer trip. The syndicate are from Monaghan."

Cailin Annamh landed a gamble from 11/8 this morning.
