Fine Call returned from a 120 day break to land the Dermot Casey – Hire Sales & Tree Services Mares Handicap Hurdle under Keith Donoghue.
Owned and bred by J.D. Flood, the victorious daughter of Milan battled off Mullagh Abu (rider lost his whip two out) by one and three parts of a length.
Winning trainer, Matthieu Palussiere said: "She is something else to jump but I was worried about the ground. She runs well fresh though and she proved me wrong about the ground.
"She got a great ride and Keith is a lovely rider, I've had my eye on him for a while now. We were going to go over fences with her but we might reconsider now, we'll just play it by ear.
"She is a half-sister to a horse (One Call) that was going to win a point-to-point by a distance until he fell at the second last. We'll have him out again sometime too." Heartansoul bidding for a follow-up in this race from last year, for Arthur Goulding, who tragically lost his brother and the mare's former trainer, Philip on Wednesday, led until the third last but she eventually had to settle for seventh place.
