Conditional jockey Kieran Callaghan won with both his Ballinrobe rides today and despite winning on 20/1 outsider Whatyouwant in the Burke's Clonbur Handicap Hurdle, his 'double' paid out at odds of only 23/1.
Callaghan had won the earlier maiden hurdle for his employer Willie Mullins on prohibitively short-priced 1/6 favourite Supersundae but his chances seemed less obvious on Michael Griffin's Whatyouwant, which debuted in handicaps rated just 87.
Both divisions of the 2m5f race were confined to just 11 runners each with Whatyouwant getting-in as second-reserve and in the race, the six-year-old made gradual progress to eventually lead on the run-in, beating Ask Cillian by two lengths.
Callaghan said "I thought she might be caught out for speed and she was, over the first couple of hurdles. We were going slow and I was further back than I wanted to be so I went forward going down the back because I was concerned they would sprint away from me.
"Her jumping got better as she went through the race and got into a nice rhythm.
"She's still plenty raw and babyish so hopefully can keep improving and they should have loads of fun with her for the summer.
"I'd stick to this trip and she'd have no trouble going further. She wants nice ground and a trip."
