The decision to step La Canaada up in trip reaped rewards when she landed the first division of the Sligo GAA 19th August Race Day Handicap at Sligo.

Connor King made all on the 16/1 shot and she stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length success.

The winner has been campaigned at five and six furlongs but today's trip was almost seven and trainer Harry Rogers said afterwards:-

“On her few runs for me she's showed that all she does is gallop on and I always had it in my mind to come here. When the ground slowed up we took our chance.

“She's very quick early on but then is one paced and all she does is gallop. She might go in again somewhere.

“They are good owners (Edward Martin) and it's their first horses with me. They are very easy to train for.”
