Cap D'Aubois went in at odds of 4/7 under Ruby Walsh in the Great National Ballykisteen Golf Hotel Hurdle at Tipperary.

Walsh donned the silks of Susannah Ricci on the Willie Mullins-trained French-bred, and off a 182 day break the five-year-old dealt with joint second favourite Thanks For Tea by four lengths in the three miler.

"He has been a hard horse to place - he has a rating of 140 and the conditions suited well," said Walsh.

"Some of the races he has been eliminated from have been for winning in France in 2015 as the race was worth E13,000 which eliminated him from all the E10,000 races here, so finding a race for him hasn't been easy.

"Three miles seemed to suit him but he's probably not a 140 horse. But he's gone and won - it's great, but he might find life difficult."
