Carberry back in the winner's enclosure

Jockey Paul Carberry returned to the saddle, from his lengthy suspension following a failed breath test before Christmas, at Naas today, winning on his third ride back, on Noel Meade's Oscar Looby in the Grade 2 Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase.

Carberry was at his patient best on Oscar Looby, producing the son Oscar to lead two out before staying on well for a three lengths over disappointing 4/6 favourite Alpha Ridge which ran in snatches.

Afterwards Meade reported “when Paul was suspended I was in the lucky position to have a lad as good as Davy Condon to replace him, as Davy rides very like Paul.”

He added “Paul (Carberry) was excellent on Oscar Looby and I'm very fortunate to have him as a rider. Oscar Looby will now go for the 3m1f Ten Up Chase at Navan next month and goes on any ground except fast ground”
