Some of the top names in the business had ridden Crown Theatre until Paul Carberry took over aboard the King's Theatre gelding when he shed his maiden tag at Downpatrick in a hurdle over a week back. The brilliant Meath man was again in the plate as the five-year-old followed up in the Jim Whitty Memorial Beginners Chase at Wexford.

Crown Theatre headed the betting at 9/4 but 8/1 chance Sin Miedo was shaping like a winner with his slick-jumping aided improvement along the back straight.

However from before the last there was only going to be one outcome and Crown Theatre 'pinged' that final fence to seal a three length margin of victory.

Carberry said of the Gordon Elliott-trained victor: "He jumped very well. He jumped the third and fourth last very well, I didn't want to be where I was but with the way he was going there was no point in disappointing him as he can be a bit tricky." (DM & EM)
