Davy Russell recorded his 100th winner of the season, and in the process moved a step closer to retaining his jump jockeys’ title, when Not For You justified strong support in division two of the Ingard Point Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.

The Youghal rider, now nine ahead of his chief rival Ruby Walsh in the championship, gave the Charles Byrnes-trained gelding a real no-nonsense ride from the front.

Russell got serious on the 8/13 (from evens) favourite to assert before the last, and drove him out on the run-in to beat All Day Long (9/2) by four and a quarter lengths.

Very few got involved here and they were well strung out from an early stage, with Asitsohappens (8/1) a further four and three quarter lengths back in third.

Byrnes said, “We’ll keep him going for the summer now and he’s a real chaser. He’s a full brother to Ruben Cotter (beat Dedigout in a Dungarvan point-to-point and now in training with Paul Nicholls). The syndicate (Byrnsey Boys) is a family based one that includes my sons.”
