Change The Rules swept into the lead after the third last and powered away under Adrian Heskin in the extended two mile five handicap chase at Fairyhouse.

Their job was undoubtedly made easier when Carrigeen Lobelia crashed out at the second last when almost on terms.

Heskin asked his mount to go and take the race by the scruff of the neck and the eight-year-old gelding readily responded.

He cleared the last some 10 lengths clear of Le Grand Chene and posted a victory by 12 lengths at 12/1.

Le Grand Chene, the 10/3 favourite, kept on for second. West Ship Master (33/1) and Dr Duckett (9/1) rewarded their each way punters by taking third and fourth respectively.

“He just didn't handle the ground in Gowran. We were expecting something better there,” trainer Aengus King said.

“Adrian said that today he was enjoying it from the off and he loved the ground.

“Once the ground goes on him that'll be the end for the summer. We'll try and find something else as soon as we can.”

Change The Rules was as big as 25/1 this morning.
