Charleville rules at Ballybrit again

Charleville was hiked up a stone in the handicap for bolting-in at the Festival meeting here last month and on his second visit to Ballybrit the Beat All gelding won again in the Higgins Motor Park Handicap to complete a double for Johnny Murtagh (he won the previous race on Trojan War just over a 28/1 brace).

Murtagh got to the front on Pat Cody's charge two and a half furlongs out and he stayed on well to prevail by two lengths from the top-weight, Noble Galileo

Kieran Purcell, who trains from the same yard in Windgap, Co. Kilkenny, represented Cody and he said: "He obviously loves the track and soft ground is the key to him. He'll probably get another few pounds for that now and he is likely to go back over hurdles (he won his maiden over flights at Sligo a few runs back)."

Patrick McCreevey, the winning owner, is a Dublin man.
