Charminamix comes good

Charminamix has proved slightly frustrating but got off the mark on the level at Dundalk courtesy of a brilliant ride from Johnny Murtagh.

The Willie McCreery-trained gelding travelled well behind the leaders turning in and was produced to challenge inside the final furlong.

He got his head in front in the closing stages to record a head verdict over 11/4 favourite Morning Time

"He has loads of ability and has run some great races. It was a fantastic ride by Johnny," said McCreery.

"He ran terrible last time at Gowran when I thought I had him fresh and well. I said to Johnny to do what he wanted today.

"I'll try and mix it with him. He schooled over fences during the week and I think it sweetened him up."

It was a double on the card for Murtagh following the victory of Catherineofaragon in the opener.
