Rookie trainer Donal Cummins recorded a first winner when his Pumbaa made a winning chase debut in the @tramoreraces On Twitter Beginners Chase at Tramore today.

Ridden by capable amateur jockey Roger Quinlan, the son of Vinnie Roe made all and recorded an impressive 10 lengths win over Empresario

Afterwards Donal Commins, father of winning trainer Donal junior, said afterwards: "we're delighted! Jimmy Mangan had Pumbaa previously and did a great job with him before we took out the license.

“He's a fair horse and we think he is Cheltenham material. He is our first winner and is the only horse we train, in Thurles.

“We'll see how he comes out of this but he might go to Limerick at Christmas. We have his three year old full-brother at home and he is even better than him!"

Pumbaa was recording his fourth career win, having previously won a bumper, maiden and handicap hurdle for Jimmy Mangan.
