Chimneys lights up Limerick

Four Chimneys in the words of commentator, Jerry Hannon, continued his love affair with Limerick when he won for the second time at the Christmas Festival, defying the burden of twelve stone two in the Patrickswell Community Council Handicap Hurdle.

Formerly with Philip Rothwell, this son of Denel won another hurdle at Greenmount when with the Tinahely handler and lost a beginners chase here in the steward's room back in November 2007.

In this two and a quarter mile heat, Andrew Leigh led before two out on Four Chimneys, he was clear at the last before going on to see off Got The Urge by seven lengths.

Winning trainer Willie Austin said: "When you have them right you're halfway there. He is obviously fit and well and the win on St Stephen's Day left him one hundred per cent right. I'd suppose he'll have a break now for a fortnight or three weeks and we'll see what the handicapper does. He could go back chasing either."
