Chino foils the favourite close home

Paul Carberry recorded a 49/1 double as his mount Chino Valdes won the fourth race on the card, the Probus All-Ireland Rally 2011 Handicap Hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott and owner Stephen McCormack.

Backed from 12/1 into 9/1 on the track, the son of Craigsteel (who stands at Garryrichard Stud) came through after the last to easily pass the leader & favourite Ballintemple Star (3/1f), winning by a length and three parts at the line.

The 6yo gelding showed he can perform on any surface here as his only other victory came on soft ground at Fairyhouse in January

It proved a good race for the handicapper as the biggest margin between horses was just four lengths. Turning into the straight all horses still held a chance of victory.

Winning trainer Gordon Elliott was absent for the win.
