Clarkey scores at Limerick

Christy Roche's injury-prone Clarkey deservedly recorded his second career success when taking the Charleville Cheese Handicap Chase at Limerick today, winning under the Curragh trainer's stable jockey Alan Crowe.

The son of Heron Island raced prominently throughout, eventually getting to the front at the final fence, staying on for a three and a half lengths win over Four Chinmeys.

Afterwards Roche revealed “Clarkey has terrible trouble with his back - he was entered in two or three races recently but I had to take him out due to his back problems. We'll go for something similar again next.”
