Classic Frontier justifies support

Classic Frontier from the Charles Byrnes stable justified favouritism when landing the Duniba Handicap Chase in the hands of Andrew McNamara who was deputising for the injured Davy Russell.

McNamara produced the 7/4 favourite to lead after the third last and the pair kicked clear entering straight to record an eight length win.

Winning trainer Byrnes said afterwards: “He won well, it was long overdue. He’ll probably go up in grade now.”

“He’s just a Summer horse and he need two miles six furlongs plus, the Summer National here could be a option for him. We’ll wait and see what the handicapper does.”

“He was a bit unlucky the last day and he jumped really well today.”
