Coast gains deserved victory

Anothercoppercoast displayed admirable battling qualities to land a nice pot in the €80,000 Leopardstown Handicap Chase.

Shay Barry's mount was left in the lead five from home and made the best of his way home. Jayo looked a major danger on the run to the last but failed to pick up on the run-in, going down by four-and-a-half lengths.

"He's overdue something like that and it was great to have Shay on, that was a bonus," said trainer Paul Roche.

"(Owner) Mrs Queally is in South Africa and everytime she is away we get a good run!

"Any day you pick up that sort of money is great. We'll look for another handicap like that while the Irish National could also be a possibility."

Barry was hit with a two-day whip ban for excessive frequency. He reported to the stewards that he felt his mount was starting to pull up in front but accepted he had been excessive.
