In-running mayhem for punters in the beginners' chase at Kilbeggan as 7/4 favourite Seefood blundered at the last and unseated Barry Geraghty when looking to have the race at his mercy.

He had only just moved into the lead before that obstacle, but Geraghty had no chance of staying in the saddle. He was being pursued by Robbie Moran on Croghill Tuppence who was left to come home in front by six lengths. Elegant Statesman (9/4) was second while Jack Hat, who made a bad mistake early on, kept on for third at 40/1.

Robbie Moran said: "He keeps a bit to himself, but he likes it around here and loves the ground. Great to have a winner for John as I've been associated with him since I was a young lad."

Croghill Tuppence was trained by John Berry. His form at Kilbeggan before this evening read 413. He won a maiden hurdle here and was third to Bally Longford in a novice chase at the start of June. He finished mid-division behind Shake The Bucket in a Wexford novice chase later that month.
