The George Kent trained Custom Cut completed a remarkable four-timer at The Curragh today when defying top weight to win the D & M Trucks Kilcullen Supporting KARE Handicap, completing a double on the day for jockey Ronan Whelan.

Custom Cut and Whelan made all the running and at the line, had three and a quarter lengths to spare over runner-up Miracle Cure providing the winning rider with his second winner of the afternoon.

For Custom Cut to win any race would have been deemed an achievement when sold by Moyglare Stud Farm for E5,800 last October but the son of Notnowcato's win today was gained from a rating of 93 and Kent later stated “he keeps improving and he had to punch above his weight today and he did it again.

“He is thriving with every run and he'll go to Galway next. He'll get an entry for the big mile handicap and the seven furlongs race on the Saturday. We'll also keep an eye out for a Listed race and he's a horse who could travel across the pond.

“I have to mention the staff – without them he wouldn't be here and it's a family team effort also.”
