Dafa delights as Elliott doubles up

Jockey Paul Carberry and trainer Gordon Elliott combined for a double at Downpatrick today, completing the brace with Al Dafa in the Season’s Greetings Beginners Chase.

The four year old gelding’s big weight allowance (received 5lbs from runner-up Representing and 12lbs from third placed Souvenir Royal played it’s part in the win but Elliott was also quick to praise Carberry’s efforts in the saddle, saying “Paul gave him a great ride – Al Dafae is a monkey and he could have pulled up a mile out.”

“It’s great for Sean Gallagher (not to be confused with this year’s Presidential candidate of the same name) who is one of our best supporters - it’s nice to get him a winner just before Christmas.”
