Daisy Shows a Liking for Tramore

Following the family success of Fingers in the opener, the Walsh clan had a win to remember in the Lisselan Fillies Handicap as Helen's Daisy Mae Bates trained by Ted ran out a convincing three and a half length winner in the hands of Wayne Lordan.

On the week that he lost that brilliant servant and his favourite horse, Commanche Court, the Kill-based handler was there to witness his Cape Cross filly shed her maiden tag at the eighth attempt as a 10/1 chance. Favourite, Hamalka didn't handle the track at all and she ended up finishing in rear.

Walsh said of Daisy Mae Bates: "She is an ordinary horse and we're happy to get a win out of her. Hopefully we'll find another similar one for her. She handled the track well. She is from a good Aga Khan family."
