Dashing Lady and Mark Enright grabbed the spoils in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle in Navan by a neck in a thrilling finish with Battling Boru

The 5/1 co favourites came in first and second with a four-length gap back to Point The Toes in third at 6/1.

Orion’s Might held a clear lead that Dashing Lady started to cut into coming to the third last. A mistake at the second last saw Dashing Lady get on terms, but all the while she was being tracked by Battling Boru on the inside.

When Battling Boru came off the bridle Dashing Lady looked booked for success coming to the last hurdle. However, Battling Boru found plenty for pressure but just failed in his bid.

Handler John Nicholson said: “She’s as tough as nails and always runs her heart out. She boiled over a bit in the preliminaries at Listowel, so we brought her into the parade ring as late as possible today.

“She will go for another one of those, and we may try her in a mares novice chase.”
