Davy delivers on Kalellshan

Kalellshan made all, on his second start for his new trainer Charles Byrnes, to win the jurysinn.com Handicap Hurdle at Galway today, providing jockey Davy Russell with his first winner, on his second ride back, since fracturing his ankle on June 5.

Russell's mount jumped to the left throughout but stayed on gamely for a length and a half success over Total Excitement

Afterwards Byrnes stated "Kalellshan kept pulling out a little bit more today when he needed to and the secret to him is to ride him from the front. He is in later in the week but may not run as he may have too much weight."

Jockey Russell returned to race-riding in the opening maiden hurdle and was partering his first winner since receiving a fall from Napa Starr at Listowel on June 5.
