Dazzling double for Suzie

Dazzling Suzie completed a double for trainer John O’Callaghan at Punchestown today, when taking the concluding Punchestown Festival Goffs Sale Mares Bumper, under another excellently judged ride from amateur rider Barry John Foley.

Foley, in similar tactics applied when the mare won at Thurles last month, held the daughter of Stowaway up off the pace in rear before making steady headway to eventually get her head in front inside the final furlong for a two lengths win over The Bog Road Girl

Afterwards O’Callaghan stated “Dazzling Suzie is a good mare and improved from the last day when she needed the run – I was worried about the bounce factor today.”

He added “if the original favourite for the race, Valleymount, hadn’t been a non-runner then things would have been more interesting. We may now go for the Aintree Mares Bumper next – she has booked her ticket today and may even be better on better ground as she has small feet and has a free action.”
