Dee completes great day for Ahern & Fogarty

Denis Ahern and Mikey Fogarty completed a memorable day when they combined for a double (the first of their respective careers) when Dun See Dee in the colours of Ahern's father Denis (the other winner My Boy Paddy also raced in these light green silks) took the concluding Cork & Waterford Mares Point-to-Point Flat Race.

Wexford man Fogarty (20-year-old and has ten track winners under his belt) made the running on the Dungarvan winning daughter of Flemensfirth but he was happy to let Coolharbour Breeze take over coming towards the business end.

He had a bit more up his sleeve though and Dun See Dee stayed on really well in the final furlong to beat Coolharbour Breeze by six lengths.

Fogarty commented: "I knew she'd stay galloping so even when she was headed I still thought we had a chance."

Ahern suggested that the home bred, only back in three weeks after her Dungarvan win in January, was on the market.
