Deegan doubles up in last

Paul Deegan completed a double in the finale at Dundalk tonight as Hawa Bali took the mile-and-a-quarter handicap.

Pat Smullen produced the gelding to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home and he stuck on well in the closing stages to beat Night Glimmer by a length-and-a-half.

Deegan had struck earlier with the impressive debutant Youm Matumiez in the three-year-old maiden.

The winner left Pat Smullen six clear in the jockeys title race after Johnny Murtagh had earlier rode a double to move him on to 86 for the season.
