Luke Dempsey was at the double in Downpatrick when he booted home 14/1 shot Krujers Girl in The Remembering Caughoo Handicap Steeplechase over an extended two miles seven furlongs.

The 10-year-old mare soared over the last and stormed nine lengths clear for a decisive victory. Ardaghs Choice came in second at 7/1 and was two and a half lengths clear third-placed Nabraska (11/1).

Trainer Thomas Coyle was leading the horse up.

Dempsey said: "I was speaking to Conor (Orr) yesterday, he told me all about them. He is suspended today. It is grand to pick up the rides on them.

"I heard the horses around me at the second last and I kind of wanted to keep the revs up. She has done it well and winged the last.

"I think so (hold her own at a bit higher level), I don't see why not."

Dempsey was also on board Favorite Moon who took the opener on the card for William Durkan.
