Next week can’t come soon enough for Philip Dempsey as the in-form trainer combined with his jockey son Luke for another winner, with Teacher’s Pet in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Novice Chase at Cork today.

The daughter of Oscar was scoring a sixth career win, and completing a double on the day for her owner J.P. McManus, when scoring a ready won over Logical Song

Afterwards trainer Dempsey, who had five winners in September and was recording his third success this month, stated “she is starting to learn her job now and conditions suited her and it’s not too bad out there and she likes that ground. We’ll stick to something similar and will talk to Frank (Berry).

“The stable is in great form and long may it last and they couldn’t be better.”

Former amateur jockey Dempsey is pencilled in for a ride in the John Shortt Legends Race at Punchestown on Thursday and with plans firmly in place, he quipped “preparations are going well with running and cycling, but I’ll be glad to get off that bike - I’m sick of it, and the running as well!”
