Cerveza Dinero bounced back to form, as he recorded his fifth career success in the Hurley Family Handicap Hurdle for jockey/trainer Denis Hogan.
The nine-year-old son of Karinga Bay last scored at Limerick in July of 2012 and he since ran eight times without success, the last six of which he was well beaten in.
Backed this morning from 9s into 5s, he eased on track from 11/2 out to 7/1.
Always prominent, he was on terms approaching the third last and soon led. He was joined at the last by Miss Penny Pincher (15/2) under Barry Geraghty, but he raced away from that rival on the run-in, scoring by four and three parts of a length at the line. Evesham Star was sent off the 6/1 favourite under Rob Jones for Charles Byrnes and she finished half a length back in third while Ussius was a further three and a half lengths away in fourth under Ben Dalton for Conor O’Dwyer at 14/1.
Denis Hogan said afterwards: "I didn’t think he’d win as easy as that. He is an impossible horse to get fit and I even did a fast piece of work over a mile with him this morning or else he would have been a bit stuffy coming here this evening.
"I had blinkers on him the last day but I don’t think he likes them and he travelled sweeter today in the cheekpieces.
"The winning owners (the Winonesoon Syndicate) are mainly from around my area, the Nenagh, Toomevara area."
